About the Institute
The Institute of Philosophy was established in 1996, and Professor Andrzej L. Zachariasz was appointed the first director of the Institute. Following the initiative of the faculty members, in 1999, the Association of the Philosophers of Slavonic Countries was established at the Institute along with its academic journal (Journal of the Philosophers of Slavonic Countries ‘Sofia’). Over the years, the Institute has been successfully cooperating with several foreign research centres. As a result, the Institute offers a degree in Intercultural Communication. In 1999, the Student Society “Eudaimonia” was created. The Institute was authorised to confer doctoral degrees in 2016. On top of their scientific work, faculty members actively promote philosophy on both local and national levels through cooperation with media, local and foreign organisations, companies, and institutions.
