Project description
The project focuses on the history of childcare in Polish territories from the 19th to the 21st century. More specifically, the analysis concerns aspects such as developments in childcare, the role of family in childcare, support for child development offered by external institutions (state and local authorities as well as social and religious organisations). The project aims to investigate the evolution of childcare throughout the last 50 years of partitions, the interwar period, the Second World War, the post-war period, and the period of political transformation. The research will serve as a starting point for the preparation of a historical dictionary entitled ‘Childcare in Poland between the 19th and 21st century.’ The dictionary will consist of a total of 1000 entries related to the history of childcare in Poland.
