Brain Week at the University of Rzeszów
On March 15, as part of the World Brain Week, an open lecture titled "Interventional Neuroradiology: How to Treat Brain Diseases with a Tube and a Piece of Wire" was organized at the Collegium Medicum. The lecture was delivered by Dr Jarosław Homa, a radiologist and specialist in interventional neuroradiology, who shared his knowledge and experience with the event participants.
During the lecture, Dr Homa introduced the audience to the field of interventional neuroradiology and its applications in treating brain disorders. The lecture was an engaging presentation of modern medical technologies. In particular, he discussed advanced, minimally invasive treatment techniques that involve inserting thin catheters and wires through blood vessels to reach diseased areas of the brain. These methods enable the treatment of aneurysms, vascular malformations, and strokes without the need for open neurosurgery.
World Brain Week is an international initiative aimed at popularizing knowledge about brain function and advancements in central nervous system research. The event is held annually in March and includes a variety of educational activities, lectures, workshops, and meetings with experts to raise public awareness about brain health. The event was organized by Professor Andrzej Urbanik, who has been actively promoting science and disseminating knowledge about brain health and function for many years.
