Outstanding Performance by the University of Rzeszów Representatives at the Academic Chess Championships of Poland in Lublin

A remarkable achievement for the University of Rzeszów chess team at the Academic Chess Championships of Poland, held in Lublin! The event brought together 312 male and 105 female players from 50 universities across the country.

Title of Academic Champion of Poland in the University Category

In the individual tournament, Miłosz Szpar, a student of materials engineering at the University of Rzeszów, delivered an outstanding performance. On the first day of the championships, he secured a perfect score with a series of victories. On the following day, in four rounds, he achieved two wins and two draws, securing second place in the overall ranking and earning the prestigious title of Academic Champion of Poland in the University Category.

Notably, in 2024, Miłosz Szpar also claimed the title of World Champion in Classical Chess.

Other representatives of the University of Rzeszów included Patryk Mrozowski, Piotr Sygulski, Adrian Miąsik, Maksymilian Lis, Wojciech Urbański, Jakub Borzęcki, and Wojciech Zamojski. In the women's category, Agnieszka Łuka and Kseniia Chystykova proudly defended the university's colors.

University of Rzeszów Secures Third Place in the Team Competition

The team tournament was filled with excitement. Despite ranking only seventh in the university category before the final round, a decisive victory in the last match propelled the University of Rzeszów to third place. Additionally, the team maintained its third position in the long-term university ranking and finished ninth in the overall classification.
