The meeting between the Rector-elect of the University of Rzeszów and the Vice-Rector-elect for Student Affairs and Education with the individuals who will assume the roles of deans

On June 7th, Professor Dr hab. med. Adam Reich, Rector-elect of the University of Rzeszów, along with Professor Dr hab. Sabina Grabowska, Vice-Rector-elect for Student Affairs and Education, met with individuals who will assume the roles of Deans at the University of Rzeszów starting this September.

Deans for the term of the Rectorate 2024-2028

The meeting aimed to discuss key organizational issues regarding the future of the university. During the meeting, several important topics were addressed to enhance the development and functioning of the University of Rzeszów. Among the discussed issues were:

  • University development strategy
  • Support for students
  • Improvement of study conditions
  • Development of academic staff

The meeting was a significant step towards strengthening the position of the University of Rzeszów. The deans expressed full readiness for cooperation and determination to achieve the set goals. Professor Adam Reich emphasized that the success of the university depends on the commitment of the entire academic community, and the initiatives undertaken aim to create the best possible conditions for learning, work, and development.

Deans for the term of the Rectorate 2024-2028

Dr hab. Agnieszka Myszka, Professor at UR, Dean of the College of Humanities

dr hab. Agnieszka Myszka, Prof. UR - a linguist and speech therapist working at the Department of Onomastics in the Institute of Polish Philology and Journalism at the University of Rzeszów. She graduated from Polish studies at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow and speech therapy at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. She obtained her PhD (2005) and habilitation degree (2016) at the University of Rzeszów, where she has been affiliated since completing her studies.

Her research interests include the study of various categories of proper names in synchronic and diachronic aspects, cultural linguistics, history of language, phonetics, as well as glottodidactics. She is the author of three scientific monographs (including "Urbanonimia Rzeszowa. Językowo-kulturowy obraz miasta") and nearly 100 articles, co-author of an academic textbook ("Na tropach przeszłości języka. Fonetyka"), and editor of several collective monographs, including the series "Głos – Język – Komunikacja." She is a member of editorial boards of scientific journals in Poland and abroad, as well as several Polish and international scientific societies, including the Polish Onomastic Society, the Onomastics Committee at the Polish Academy of Sciences, and the Slavic Onomastics Committee.

She has completed several national and international scientific and didactic internships, including at the Universities of Krakow (2012), Bologna in Italy (2011), Lisbon in Portugal (2012), Paraná in Curitiba in Brazil (2014, 2023), and Helsinki in Finland (2016). She is the founder and head of postgraduate studies in speech therapy (15 editions) and neurologopaedics (6 editions), author of study programs for several fields. From 2006 to 2009, she was the deputy director of the Institute of Polish Philology, from 2016 to 2019 the director of the Institute of Polish Philology and Journalism, in the academic year 2019/20 - deputy rector of the Faculty of Humanities, vice-dean, and since 2020 the dean of the Faculty of Humanities.

dr hab. Bogdan Wierzbiński, Professor at UR, Dean of the College of Social Sciences

dr hab. Eng. Bogdan Wierzbiński, Prof. UR is an academic staff member at the College of Social Sciences in the Institute of Economics and Finance, in the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at the University of Rzeszów. He holds a PhD in economics and a habilitation in management and quality.

Professor Wierzbiński's scientific interests revolve around the competitiveness and cross-border cooperation of SMEs.

Since 2005, prof. Wierzbiński has served as the Vice-Dean at the Faculty of Economics at UR: 2005-2008: Vice-Dean for Full-Time Studies, 2008-2016: Vice-Dean for Development and International Cooperation (two terms). During this period, he organized studies in the United Kingdom for over 250 students of the Faculty of Economics at UR, who obtained diplomas both in Poland and the UK (BA Hons). From 2012 to 2015, Prof. Wierzbiński worked as a visiting professor at Staffordshire University (UK). From 2019 to 2024, he served as the Vice-Dean at the College of Social Sciences at UR and the Rector’s Plenipotentiary for the Development of Scientific Relations with Chinese Universities.

Prof. Wierzbiński is the author of over 70 scientific papers. He has completed more than 40 internships and seminars at recognized scientific institutions. Prof. Wierzbiński is serving his third term as a board member of the Association of Economic Universities of South and Eastern Europe and the Black Sea Region (ASECU - Greece, Thessaloniki), which comprises 46 economic universities from 16 countries.

dr hab. Rafał Podgórski, Professor at UR, Dean of the College of Medical Sciences

dr hab. med. Rafał Podgórski, prof. UR, is a graduate of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Medical University of Lublin. In 2014, he completed Interdisciplinary Doctoral Studies there and obtained a PhD in pharmaceutical sciences. Since 2015, he has been employed at the Department of Biochemistry and General Chemistry at the Institute of Medical Sciences, University of Rzeszów. From 2016 to 2019, he served as Deputy Director of the Institute of Experimental and Clinical Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Rzeszów, and since October 1, 2019, he has been the Vice-Dean of the College of Medical Sciences at the University of Rzeszów.

His scientific interests focus on the use of analytical methods, mainly gas chromatography, in disease diagnostics, particularly the role of steroid hormones and the activity of enzymes involved in their biosynthesis and metabolism in the pathophysiology of conditions such as cystic fibrosis, obesity, foetal alcohol spectrum disorders, and congenital adrenal hyperplasia. Privately, Dr hab. Rafał Podgórski is a husband and father of three sons, a sports enthusiast, and a fan of alternative rock music.

He is the co-author of 37 scientific articles in journals and 65 chapters in monographs. The total Impact Factor of all his publications is 128.66 points, and he has accumulated 3809 points from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MNiSzW), with an H-index of 10. Dr hab. Rafał Podgórski has actively pursued and participated in the implementation of many research projects, twice serving as a project leader. He also represents the university in the Committee on Quality of Education in the Medical Program of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Medical Universities.

dr hab. Jadwiga Topczewska, Professor at UR, Dean of the College of Natural Sciences

dr hab. Eng. Jadwiga Topczewska - a zootechnician, is a graduate of Agricultural Production Economics from the Hugo Kołłątaj University of Agriculture in Kraków, Rzeszów branch. In 2000, she defended her PhD in zootechnics at the University of Life Sciences in Lublin. In 2014, she obtained her habilitation degree from the University of Natural Sciences and Humanities in Siedlce. She was employed at the Hugo Kołłątaj University of Agriculture in Kraków from 1993, and since 2001, she has been with the University of Rzeszów. Since 2014, she has been an associate professor at the University of Rzeszów.

dr hab. Eng. Jadwiga Topczewska's scientific research focuses on animal welfare and the impact of environmental factors on the quality of raw materials and animal products. She completed a scientific internship at the University of Life Sciences in Lublin and twice undertook internships in enterprises as part of the "Internship as a Scientist's Success" project. She collaborates with the University of Davis, California, USA. She has also conducted study visits at the University of Padova, Italy, Mendel University in Brno, and the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (Czech Republic). She is the author and co-author of numerous scientific, popular science publications, and monographs.

She is co-author of one patent application and has been awarded the Medal of the National Education Commission and the Silver Cross of Merit. Since 2019, she has been the head of the Logistics in the Agri-Food Sector program at the College of Natural Sciences, UR. Since 2011, she has been the supervisor of the AnimalEquus Scientific Circle. As part of her activities with the Scientific Circle, she organized several scientific camps and workshops for UR students and those from UC Davis. She has supervised many students presenting their research findings at national and international scientific conferences, and several publications involving students. She has been the supervisor for over 200 student theses (engineering, bachelor's, and master's).
