The Outstanding Neurosurgeon Professor Andrzej Maciejczak Passed Away
On the night of March 14th to 15th, 2025, after a prolonged illness, Professor Andrzej Maciejczak, a world-renowned neurosurgeon specializing in spinal surgery, passed away at the age of 64. He was the head of the Department of Neurosurgery at the Provincial Hospital of St. Luke in Tarnów.
Professor Maciejczak had a long-standing connection with the University of Rzeszów. He served as the head of the Neurosurgery Lab at the Collegium Medicum and was deeply involved in teaching and mentoring students. A respected lecturer and collaborator, his contributions were greatly valued in the academic community.
The death of Professor Andrzej Maciejczak is a significant loss to Polish and global medicine. His knowledge, scientific achievements, and commitment to advancing medical practice had a profound impact on the medical community.
Professor Maciejczak was a recipient of the Golden Cross of Merit and the Medal of the National Education Commission. Recently, he was awarded the Gloria Medicinae Medal – an honor bestowed by the Polish Medical Society to the most distinguished figures in the medical field.
