The symbolic transfer of rectoral authority during an extraordinary meeting of the Senate of the University of Rzeszów
On September 16th, an extraordinary meeting of the Senate of the University of Rzeszów took place, during which the symbolic transfer of rectoral authority occurred.
Professor Sylwester Czopek, who had held the position of Rector of the University of Rzeszów since 2015, officially concluded his term on August 31, 2024. The new Rector, Professor Adam Reich, assumed office on September 1st, and according to the University’s academic tradition, the formal transfer of power happens during this Senate meeting.
Rector Prof. Adam Reich assumed the office of Rector for the eighth term in the history of the University of Rzeszów.
Prof. Reich, now in his first term as the eighth Rector in the history of the university, was elected on April 16, 2024, by 150 electors. During the ceremony, outgoing Rector Prof. Czopek addressed the new university leadership with well-wishes, while Prof. Reich thanked his predecessors, emphasizing his focus on furthering the institution’s development, enhancing its scientific potential, and educating future generations.
Additionally, portraits of past Rectors, which adorn the Senate Hall, were highlighted, and a special unveiling of Prof. Czopek's portrait took place. The portrait was created by Prof. Tadeusz Boruta of the University’s Institute of Fine Arts.
Prof. Reich also presented senatorial mandates to the 61 members of the University Senate during the event.
