The University of Rzeszów and the Military Police join forces for security
The University of Rzeszów is strengthening its commitment to ensuring the safety of its students and staff. A newly signed agreement with the Military Police will provide the university with additional support in safeguarding individuals and property, combating crime, and preventing drug abuse.
The agreement was signed by Professor Adam Reich, Rector of the University of Rzeszów, and Colonel Piotr Sztrom, Commander of the Military Police Branch in Kraków.
Under the terms of this cooperation, Military Police officers will be authorized to intervene on university premises in cases where there is reasonable suspicion of a crime being committed. They will also assist in locating individuals evading law enforcement or those reported missing. Additionally, at the request of a court, prosecutor, or other authorized body, they will carry out necessary official procedures. Close collaboration with the university's security services is also planned to ensure a swift and effective response to situations requiring intervention.
The agreement extends beyond security measures to include a broad range of educational and research initiatives. Students of the University of Rzeszów will have the opportunity to undertake internships and study visits at the Military Police Branch in Kraków and its subordinate units. Furthermore, joint conferences, scientific seminars, and research projects will be organized, focusing on public security issues.
"This is not just a step towards enhancing campus security," comments Sławomir Adamczyk, Rector’s Proxy for Security and Resource Protection. "It is also an opportunity to foster collaboration between the academic community and law enforcement agencies. The knowledge gained through joint initiatives may lead to new prevention and security projects, facilitate students' access to internships and training, and expand career prospects for graduates."
