XVII Celebration of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day in Podkarpacie – II International Conference at the University of Rzeszów

On Jan 20-30, 2025, the 17th International Holocaust Remembrance Day took place in Podkarpacie. The event was organized by the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Rzeszów and the Institute of National Remembrance, Rzeszów branch. The honorary patronage over the celebrations was assumed by the Marshal of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship and the President of Rzeszów.

As part of the celebrations, on January 27, 2025, the II International Conference entitled "Holocaust and After the Holocaust from a Local Perspective" was held. The conference, which took place at the University of Rzeszów, gathered a number of distinguished guests, including descendants of survivors of the Holocaust. Participants included Sally Mizroch from the USA, Cila, Eran and Ofir Yahalon from Israel, Paul Shapiro from the USA, Nina and Mark Talbot from the USA, as well as Tamar and Szmuel Halpern from Israel.

The event was organized by students of the Cultural Studies Academic Club with the support of prof. Wacław Wierzbieniec, who is the head of the Jewish History and Culture Lab.
