On October 10, 2023 the Deputy Rector for Student Affairs and Education, dr hab. Elżbieta Rokosz, prof. UR met with international students who have come to the UR under the Erasmus+ program or have taken up medical studies in English. The general organizational meeting, in which the Deputy Rector was supported by Maciej Mulak, a representative of the UR Student Government, was followed by a workshop on intercultural communication, the first activity of this type funded by the National Agency for Academic Exchange under the Welcome to Poland 2022 Programme.

The workshop was conducted by dr Jarosław Kinal from the Institute of History of the University of Rzeszów, and its aim was to present the realities of the functioning of our University, as well as to help our international students adapt to life in Rzeszów and Poland. Staying for a longer period of time in a new, linguistically and culturally different environment is associated with stress and uncertainty. Therefore, the meeting was to be an introduction to the process of integration of the students with the university and the local academic community.

About 70 students took part in the event. The countries they represented include Spain, Turkey, Italy, and Ukraine, among others.
