Project description
The aim of the project is to compile biographies of Polish female emigrant writers, including a summary of their work, iconography, and bibliography. As the data concerning Polish female emigrant writes is often outdated, the main goal of the project is to expand and systematise the knowledge about Polish emigrants between 1939 and 1989. Creating such a dictionary will help consolidate the knowledge regarding the lives and work of Polish female emigrant writers. Previous findings regarding this integral part of the Polish literature will be cross-checked with newly acquired archives. The hope is that the bibliography and characterisation of the main trends in the works of female poets and prose writers will open new research avenues. The dictionary will be published in an expanded digital version and a standard printed version. The digital version of the dictionary will be continually updated, including biographical and bibliographic data from still-living and active female writers. The dictionary will also serve as a starting point for doctoral students and young researchers preparing monographs on selected writers.
