Development Strategy of the Faculty of Fine Arts representing the discipline of fine arts and art conservation at the University of Rzeszów

The Faculty of Fine Arts was established as a result of a change in the organizational structure at the University of Rzeszów in January 2025.

The Faculty conducts teaching, artistic, design, exhibition and research activities in the discipline of fine arts and art conservation and art sciences. It consists of four Departments: Painting, Workshop Graphics and Art Theory, Graphic Design and Multimedia, Drawing and Space Management. The Faculty employs three full professors, nineteen university professors, fourteen doctors and ten masters. These numbers are constantly changing, thanks to the scientific promotions of the staff. Despite its relatively small size - compared to other art schools - the Faculty of Fine Arts is an entity that covers a wide area of ​​artistic and design creativity. The Faculty has great creative potential and the ability to cooperate in partnership with domestic and foreign scientific and artistic institutions and academic centers. The scientific potential of the Faculty of Fine Arts is evidenced by the fact that the unit has a scientific category A+. Maintaining the current scientific category is a factor of fundamental importance that will strongly determine its operation in the long term. At the Faculty of Fine Arts, scientific and artistic activity in the discipline of fine arts and art conservation is carried out within four research teams.

The Faculty of Fine Arts offers 3 majors: graphics and painting as uniform master's degree studies and visual arts, where education takes place at the first and second cycle. It is also possible to study at the third cycle at the Doctoral School of the University of Rzeszów. The Faculty of Fine Arts can boast of high quality of education, which is confirmed by the distinguished assessments of the Polish Accreditation Committee. Students also have the opportunity to develop their artistic interests and passions in scientific circles.

The University of Rzeszów has the right to award doctoral and postdoctoral degrees in the discipline of fine arts and art conservation.

Mission
The mission of the Faculty of Fine Arts focuses on supporting artistic and design creativity, as well as on imparting knowledge and creative skills. The aim is not only to develop artistic competences, but also to spread culture. The Faculty aims in particular to create conditions that will enable the development of the academic community, and also cooperates with the socio-economic environment to support an innovative and modern education process that responds to current challenges in the field of art and design.

Vision
The Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Rzeszów, as a modern and dynamic academic unit, draws on a long tradition of art and contemporary trends and innovative solutions. It creates a creative space that inspires artistic exploration, scientific research and experimentation in the area of ​​art and design.


The vision is built on key values:

- Diversity and openness - appreciating and supporting individual creative attitudes and a multidirectional approach to art and design, developing interdisciplinary relations between art, science and technology.

- Social and environmental responsibility – raising awareness of contemporary civilization challenges, shaping artists and designers who are aware of the role of art in the social and ecological context.

- Innovation and creativity – promoting the courage to experiment, originality of thinking and innovative solutions in art and design, supporting the development of new media, technologies and artistic practices.

- Dialogue and cooperation – creating an open space for the exchange of ideas, cooperation with cultural institutions, the creative sector and the local and international community.

Striving for the Faculty to be a dynamic academic center with a European reputation, which inspires creative development and active participation in shaping the future of art.

I. SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND ARTISTIC CREATIVITY

1. Raising the level of scientific research and artistic creativity.
1.1. Introducing procedures supporting a high level of research and artistic creativity.
1.2. Increasing the share of interdisciplinary research.
1.3. Maintaining a high scientific category in the evaluation process of scientific units.
2. Internationalization of research.
2.1. Creating international research teams.
2.2. Cooperation with foreign researchers with significant artistic achievements.
2.3. Organizing international exhibitions, symposia and competitions, etc.
3. Efforts to obtain external financial resources.
3.1. Increasing the effectiveness of obtaining external funds for scientific and artistic research.

II. EDUCATION

1. Orienting the education process to the needs of the labor market.
2. Implementing didactic content in cooperation with external entities.
3. Raising student competences and increasing the recognition of graduates on the labor market.
4. Improving the individualization of teaching.
5. Increasing the international mobility of students and the educational offer for foreign students.
6. Increasing the international character of education by introducing subjects taught in English.
