A Flower Meadow and Forest Corner Taking Shape at the Rejtan Campus of the University of Rzeszów
The creation of a forest corner and flower meadow at the Rejtana Campus is overseen by Professor Łukasz Łuczaj—a renowned botanist, university lecturer, science popularizer, video blogger, and author of numerous publications on wild edible plants.
Flower Meadow
A flower meadow is not only an aesthetic enhancement to the landscape but also a crucial ecosystem that supports biodiversity. Blooming plants attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, which play a fundamental role in the natural environment. Moreover, flower meadows require minimal maintenance, reducing CO₂ emissions associated with frequent lawn mowing and promoting eco-friendly land management.
Microforest
Thanks to Professor Łuczaj’s efforts, the Rejtana Campus will also feature a forest corner—a space designed for both educational and recreational purposes. Native trees and shrubs will provide habitats for birds, small mammals, and numerous insect species, enriching the local ecosystem.
The flower meadow and forest corner are not just a tribute to nature protection but also valuable educational resources for students and the academic community. These green spaces will enable fieldwork classes, ecological research, and workshops on sustainable environmental management. They also serve as inspiration for integrating nature protection practices into everyday life.
