Przedmiotem wynalazku jest test PCR wykrywający homozygotyczną delecję CTTACCTGT w ludzkim genie FUCA1 oraz sposób jego wykonania. Test ma zastosowanie w medycznych laboratoriach diagnostycznych, gdzie będzie wykorzystywany do szybkiej identyfikacji homozygotycznej delecji obejmującej następującą sekwencję nukleotydową CTTACCTGT w obrębie genu FUCA1 powodującą zespół dysfunkcji lizosomalnych.

Otrzymanie patentu było możliwe dzięki współpracy interdyscyplinarnego zespołu naukowców dr hab. Tomasza Ząbka z Instytutu Zootechniki oraz Profesora Artura Mazura, Dr Agnieszki Domin z Instytutu Nauk Medycznych Kolegium Nauk Medycznych Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego oraz dr hab. The subject of the invention is a PCR test for the detection of a homozygous CTTACCTGT deletion in the human FUCA1 gene and a method of making it. The test has applications in medical diagnostic laboratories, where it will be used to rapidly identify a homozygous deletion involving the following CTTACCTGT nucleotide sequence within the FUCA1 gene causing a syndrome of lysosomal dysfunction.

The patent was obtained thanks to the cooperation of an interdisciplinary team of scientists Dr. Tomasz Ząbek of the Institute of Zootechnics and Professor Artur Mazur, Dr. Agnieszka Domin of the Institute of Medical Sciences of the College of Medical Sciences of the University of Rzeszów, and Dr. Maciej Wnuk of the Institute of Biotechnology of the College of Natural Sciences of the University of Rzeszów.
