Obszar zainteresowań naukowych obejmuje fizykę laserów, fizykę defektów w materiałach optoelektronicznych, badanie wpływu obróbki termicznej i radiacyjnej na własności optyczne i generacyjne tlenkowych materiałów laserowych, fotochromowych i fotorefrakcyjnych, spektroskopię transmisyjną, absorpcyjną i odbiciową materiałów (m.in. kryształów, cienkich warstw, proszków i roztworów stałych), zastosowanie informatyki, głównie do modelowania procesów tworzenia i gromadzenia defektów radiacyjnych w kryształach oraz badanie wpływ różnych czynników na parametry energetyczne i własności cieplne budynków
